Bukit Aman Department Seizes Nearly RM800 Million in Contraband and Makes Over 4,000 Arrests, Reports IGP

The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, announced that the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department has seized contraband, drugs, and other illicit items worth nearly RM800 million during thwarted smuggling attempts this year.

The department reported 6,476 cases and 4,356 arrests from January to September.

A variety of contraband, valued at RM789.99 million, was confiscated during these operations.

Notable achievements included the Wildlife Crime Bureau’s seizure of illegal frozen food worth RM21 million, the General Operations Force’s confiscation of 495kg of syabu worth RM17.8 million, the Federal Reserve Unit’s RM37.3 million seizure in 28 raids, and the Marine Police’s seizure of RM37.1 million worth of contraband and the arrest of 64 suspects.

The department has intensified its efforts to enhance security at the country’s entry points by coordinating all of its resources and deploying various assets like armoured vehicles, the cavalry unit, helicopters, and drones along the country’s borders.

“It has also conducted various operations by mobilising assets such as armoured cars, the cavalry unit, as well as helicopters and drones, at the country’s borders,” he said.

The IGP praised the department’s accomplishments and encouraged ongoing success, emphasising the need for continuous improvement.

“We must not rest on our laurels and always strive to do better,” he added.
