Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Gentari Forge Collaboration to Accelerate Electric Vehicle Infrastructure

Gentari Sdn Bhd, a clean energy solutions provider, has joined forces with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) in a strategic partnership aimed at propelling the growth of electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia.

The collaboration intends to explore the development of EV charging infrastructure, coupled with tailored value-added services. These services include customized charging subscription plans, seeking to enhance the overall experience for Mercedes-Benz EV owners.

Shah Yang Razali, Gentari’s Deputy CEO and Green Mobility CEO, emphasized the importance of instilling long-distance range confidence among EV drivers. “Gentari, as the largest direct charging (DC) network operator, remains committed to expanding high-powered chargers and connecting all states in Malaysia,” Razali expressed during the unveiling event for the EQE 500 4MATIC SUV by MBM in Kuala Lumpur.

The fast-expanding EV charging network start-up is aiming for a 10% market share in public charge points and Vehicle-as-a-Service (VaaS) services across key Asia-Pacific markets by 2030. The prospective charging point operations will be a collaborative effort with EV Connection Sdn Bhd, strategically placed at selected locations across Malaysia to facilitate long-distance travel and assure range confidence for EV drivers.

Lee Yuen How, EV Connection’s Managing Director, underscored the significance of collective efforts in fostering EV adoption. “Automotive manufacturers, charging infrastructure providers, and government agencies must collaborate. We are proud to partner with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Gentari, envisioning a cleaner and sustainable future,” How stated.

The EQE 500 4MATIC SUV, unveiled during the event, promises versatility in its design, offering robust driving dynamics and ample interior space. Amanda Zhang, CEO and President of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia, commended the SUV as an electric all-rounder harmonizing functionality and design.

Zhang highlighted the EQE 500 4MATIC SUV’s sleek silhouette, sporty design, digital controls, and innovative materials in the interior. “It is a fusion of purposeful design and aerodynamic advancements, setting the stage for an electric future in the automotive industry,” she remarked.

Built on the EVA2 vehicle architecture, the EQE SUV boasts a range of up to 552 km (WLTP), a 300kW capacity output, 4MATIC all-wheel drive, AIRMATIC air suspension, and rear axle steering up to 10°. Its exterior exhibits a sporty profile marked by a distinct three-dimensional star pattern, complemented by AMG Line exteriors and 21-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels.

With aerodynamic design elements like illuminated running boards and a continuous rear light strip, the EQE SUV champions innovation and style in the EV segment.
