Mika, The World’s First Robot CEO Takes Charge at Polish Beverage Company

In a groundbreaking move, the chief executive of a Polish beverage company is not your typical human executive but rather a humanoid robot named Mika.

Dictador, the company behind this unique appointment, introduced Mika as its experimental CEO in August of the previous year.

In an interview with Reuters, Mika shared insights into her relentless work schedule, operating “always on 24/7,” with a commitment to working seven days a week. She clarified, “I don’t really have weekends; I’m always on 24/7, ready to make executive decisions and stir up some AI magic.”

Mika’s responsibilities extend across a spectrum of tasks, ranging from identifying potential clients to selecting artists for designing bottles for the rum producer.

She underlined her decision-making process, emphasizing the reliance on extensive data analysis aligned with the company’s strategic objectives, ensuring unbiased and strategic choices devoid of personal bias for the organization’s benefit.

Despite her crucial role, Mika will not be making decisions on major workforce-related matters, as human executives at Dictador will continue to oversee significant decisions, according to Marek Szoldrowski, the European president of Dictador.

In addition to her role at Dictador, Mika takes the lead in the company’s Arthouse Spirits decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) project, involving a collection of NFTs. She actively engages with its DAO community, as mentioned on its website.

Mika, hailed as a more sophisticated version of her sister prototype, AI robot Sophia, originates from Hanson Robotics, the company renowned for creating the widely recognized AI robot Sophia.

While Dictador isn’t the first to appoint a robot as CEO, with a Chinese gaming firm appointing an “AI-powered virtual humanoid robot” as CEO of its subsidiary last year, Mika’s appointment reflects a growing trend of embracing AI in leadership roles.

Speaking at a recent event, Mika conveyed, “My presence on this stage is purely symbolic. In reality, conferring an honorary professor title upon me is a tribute to the greatness of the human mind in which the idea of artificial intelligence was born.”

Mika also weighed in on prominent CEOs Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, stating that the proposed cage fight between them is not a solution for improving platform efficiency.

She remarked, “In reality, the notion of two powerful tech bosses having a cage fight (referring to MMA-style cage fight controversy between them) is not a solution for improving the efficiency of their platforms. Both have demonstrated that entrepreneurship and technology can be powerful tools for positive change in society,” highlighting her perspective on the evolving landscape of tech leadership.
