TRX Unveils Underground Connectivity: Tunnel, Mall, and Park Set to Transform Kuala Lumpur

The Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) is gearing up for a grand unveiling on November 29, as it prepares to open its highly anticipated tunnel to the public. Coinciding with this milestone, The Exchange TRX mall and the sprawling 10-acre TRX City Park will also welcome visitors.

This five-kilometer underground vehicular tunnel is poised to seamlessly link TRX to an extensive network of 12 major roads and highways, including key routes like Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Maju Expressway (MEX), SMART Tunnel, and the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE). TRX City Sdn Bhd, the mastermind behind the 70-acre TRX development, highlights the tunnel’s strategic connectivity and its impact on traffic flow.

Offering direct access to Jalan Tun Razak and the SMART highway, the TRX tunnel will establish a vital loop system, facilitating convenient access to and from various parts of the development without congesting surrounding roads.

By directing vehicles straight to designated parking spaces beneath TRX buildings, the tunnel’s design aims to alleviate congestion on nearby roads, minimizing the impact of TRX-bound traffic on existing routes, according to TRX City’s statement.

Constructed by Gadang Engineering (M) Bhd and WCT Bhd, the TRX tunnels encompass two levels dedicated to vehicular traffic, with an additional level dedicated exclusively to utility services. To ensure a seamless experience for road users, the installation of Waze Beacon within the tunnels guarantees uninterrupted navigation into the district.

Works Minister Datuk Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, after his site visit, lauded TRX’s road infrastructure as integral to Malaysia’s dedicated international financial hub, emphasizing its alignment with the government’s vision for TRX.

TRX City CEO Datuk Azmar Talib highlighted the significance of the underground tunnel’s construction, constituting a substantial part of the RM3 billion investment in essential infrastructure for TRX. He emphasized TRX’s dual identity as an international financial center and a transit-oriented development, boasting world-class urban design and connectivity while prioritising sustainability and public spaces.
