New AirPods With Wireless Charging In 2019

Originally launched in late 2016, a revamped version of Apple's AirPods with wireless charging support is to hit stores in early 2019, reports specialist website 9to5Mac which cites analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Apple is apparently about to launch an upgraded version of its AirPods in the first quarter of 2019. The new earphones will feature inductive charging, which will require the creation of a new case that will probably result in an increase in the current AirPod price of US$159 (RM660). The rumour inevitably raises the question of the AirPower mat inductive charging station which was presented by Apple in 2017, but whose launch has since been delayed or possibly abandoned. According to Kuo, the upgrade will be followed by a redesign of the AirPods, although the analyst does not go i...

Malaysia In AFF Suzuki Cup Final After Defeating Thailand On Away Goals

Malaysia is in the final of the AFF Suzuki Cup! Harimau Malaya, led by coach Tan Cheng Hoe, fought back to hold Thailand to a 2-2 draw in a pulsating affair at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on Wednesday (Dec 5). Malaysia were held 0-0 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Dec 1. Malaysia's goals were scored by Syahmi Safari and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha while Thailand's goals were scored by an Irfan Zakaria own goal and Pansa Hemviboon. Thailand were the first to draw blood when Malaysian goalkeeper Farizal Marlias' save from a Thitipan Puangchan header was accidentally bundled into the Malaysian goal by substitute Irfan Zakaria in the 20th minute. Seven minutes later, Malaysia equalised through a Syahmi thunderbolt. The Selangor right-back, who received the ball from...

The Government has set a target of 20% of the country’s electricity to be generated from renewable sources by 2030, an increase from 2% currently.

Why You Shouldn’t Fire Employees In December

There are a few certainties around the end of the year in my business. People will complain endlessly about performance reviews - giving them, receiving them, and coordinating the whole process. Productivity generally takes a dive as people are more focused on their holiday plans and upcoming vacations (though there are ways to avoid it). It seems to be the most popular time of the year to fire people. Admittedly, this is purely anecdotal, but every year in December two things happen to me: I see a spike in people looking for help, saying. "I was just fired and I don't know what to do," and I see a spike in conversations I have with my clients who are fishing for reasons to fire people. The first two points are almost inevitable. But the third is one of my biggest pet peeves, b...

How To Dress To Impress At Work

There are some companies that are very specific with their dress codes, with clear dos and don’ts. However, some companies are a little less plain with what men and women in the workplace can and cannot wear. Nevertheless, if you follow these general guidelines, you will always be on point when you dress for work.   Dress as if you care, even if it is a casual workplace. No matter what the dress code may be in your office, always dress as if you care – even if it is a casual workplace. Actually, it matters more if you follow a casual dress code. This is because, in the more recent years, with the casual dress code, people have become too complacent with what they wear to the workplace. Just because you can wear casual clothing does not mean you cannot care about the way you l...

Google Employees Write To CEO Demanding Equal Treatment For Contractors

A group of Google employees wrote to chief executive officer Sundar Pichai demanding better conditions for the thousands of contractors that make up more than half of the Internet giant’s work force. Last month, Alphabet Inc overhauled the way it handles allegations of sexual harassment and assault, but the updated policies largely left out temporary, vendor and contract workers. On Dec 5, a group of full-time and contract workers sent a letter to Pichai asking for that to change. They also listed other requests, such as access to companywide emails and town hall staff meetings, better health care and benefits, and a more transparent process for applying for full-time jobs. “We will continue to be mistreated and ignored if we stay silent,” the workers wrote in the letter, a copy o...

National Food Bank To Help The Needy

A national food bank to be launched soon by the government will collect non-perishable food and distribute them to agencies and individuals in need. Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said his ministry would spearhead the initiative. Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will launch it on Dec 22 in Penang. “We chose Penang as our launching pad for the national food bank programme because it initiated the food bank idea last year. “I am pleased to go back to Penang to launch one of our biggest initiatives to help those in the B40 category (the bottom 40% of households with monthly income of RM3,900 and below),” he told a dialogue organised by the Malaysian Press Institute with senior editors at his ministry yesterday.
