Passengers of MYAirline can get discounted fares on Batik Air and AirAsia

Batik Air and AirAsia are providing support to any passengers impacted by the cancellation or rescheduling of their flights following the cash-strapped low-cost carrier MYAirline’s suspension of operations as of Thursday.

There are many one-way tickets available from Batik Air, all of which are subject to seat availability and include all fees.

Penang costs RM129, Langkawi RM159, Kuching RM199, Don Mueang (Bangkok), and Kota Kinabalu RM299, among others.

In the meantime, AirAsia is providing affected passengers with confirmed flight reservations to and from a few specific locations (Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, Tawau, Kota Bharu, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu-Tawau, Don Mueang-Bangkok, and Suvarnabhumi-Bangkok) a 50% discount on base tickets.

“To redeem this offer, affected passengers can present their confirmed MYAirline flight bookings at AirAsia sales counters at KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) in Sepang, Langkawi International Airport, Penang International Airport, Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (Kota Bharu), Kuching International Airport, Tawau Airport, Kota Kinabalu International Airport, and Don Mueang International Airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok,” it said.

It is important to note that both promotions are only valid through November 30 and are effective immediately.

“With the challenges passengers are currently facing, our aim is to assist the passengers, so that they can reach their destinations with ease. We’re here to support the affected passengers during this time,” said Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, the group strategic director of Batik Air and Lion Group.

“As the people’s airline, we deeply empathise with all affected MYAirline passengers and their staff. We understand the stress and disruption this situation has caused, and hope that this 50 percent discount will assist affected passengers in making new travel arrangements, making full use of our extensive flight network to all key destinations,” said Bo Lingam, the group chief executive officer of AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd.

Due to financial difficulties, MYAirline announced on Thursday morning that it would cease operations until further notice while awaiting any modifications to the shareholders’ plans to restructure and fund the airline.

In the meantime, MYAirline passengers who are impacted by the suspension of the airline’s operations can get help from special hotlines and channels established up by the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom).
